John W. Shaver is a plaintiffs’ trial attorney representing individuals and families who have been harmed by the negligent, reckless, or intentional conduct of another. Shaver works on behalf of his clients to make them whole following a physical injury or financial loss. Shaver’s practice covers an array of civil litigation matters, including catastrophic personal injury wrongful death, product liability and business tort litigation.
Shaver brings the years of experience acquired while working as a defense attorney to help his client better negotiate the plaintiffs side to success.
Shaver prides himself in providing vigorous representation on behalf of his clients, regardless of the size of the case or the significance of the issues at stake. Each case is meticulously prepared to achieve a maximum and just recovery, whether through settlement or jury verdict. Equally important, Shaver remains available to his clients at all stages of their case and ensures the client and clients families needs are met.
Shaver’s legal background includes years of litigation and trial experience as a former defense attorney during which he represented corporations and insurance companies in cases involving transportation and common carrier liability, insurance bad faith, contract disputes and general liability. Shaver’s familiarity with a defense’s tools and tactics has been an asset to the individuals and families he now represents. For example, from Shaver’s experience representing some of the largest trucking and transportation companies in the country, he understands that the risky trucking company practices to skirt state and federal safety regulations may save money, but also may put innocent motorists’ lives in danger. He believes strongly in victims’ rights and he dedicates a portion of his practice to the victims of catastrophic trucking accidents.
Shaver graduated from Loyola Marymount University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Film Production. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from California Western School of Law (2009), where he received a Creative Problem Solving scholarship. While in law school, Shaver clerked for the U.S. Attorney’s Office and for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office. He also earned the award of Moot Court Distinguished Advocate for his success in trial advocacy competitions.
